Sayoc Transition Drill 1
Sayoc
Sayoc is a highly evolved combat system. Originating in the Philippines, It was used by the guerrilla fighters in World War 2, and is used today by military, law enforcement officers, and responsible civilians to protect themselves.
Sayoc is a blade based system. While empty hand and impact weapons are taught, the main emphasis is on edge weapons. Students begin learning deployment and use of a single blade and progress to projectiles along with multiple blade tactics.
Training begins with vital targets templates, which teaches targeting. Then it moves onto feeder/receiver drills, which install correct responses of the feeder to defeat the receiver's defense.
As training continues, weapon retention and disarms are taught. Then scenario training is used to put the training that students learn into use and context within a dynamic setting. The scenario training also helps in teaching the feeder mindset. The feeder mindset is an aggressive survival thought process, which is installed to help ensure that the student will be able to think rationally through a violent encounter.
