Class Protocol
Because of the nature of the material taught, special efforts must be taken to ensure the safety and success of all students. The class protocols help ensure the instructor maintains a safe and constructive learning environment.
- Students will arrive on time. Late arrivals will be allowed in per instructors discretion.
- Students will address the instructor per their title to show proper respect.
- No one else speaks while the instructor is teaching. Questions will be allowed after each demonstration and at the end of class.
- No live blades on the training floor. If found, they belong to the instructor.
- Proper attire consists of comfortable pants, school shirt (Sayoc or AK shirts also allowed) footwear (Wrestling shoes, boots, or sneakers) and an athletic cup for men.
- All shirts will be tucked in when entering the training floor.
- Upon arrival, all students will do the required warm up that the instructor will pick. This could be anything from rope climbing, footwork drills, or quick draws. The warm up will correspond with the current training.
- All training blades will be inspected prior to training for any burs that may harm other students.
- Questions are always welcome, but will be asked in a respectful manner.
- Never 'jokingly' attack the instructor or attempt to sneak up. It is counter productive to the instructor's own training if he/she has to deal with horseplay.
